Today I’ve got another giveaway for you in the ongoing December 31 Days of Crochet Giveaways. And since Tuesday is when I always do a crochet book review, I’m combining today’s giveaway with the review. Read on to find out more about Vogue Knitting Stitchionary 6: Edgings, why it works for crocheters and how you can enter to win your copy.
About Vogue Knitting Stitchionary 6
This is the 6th book in the Vogue Knitting Stitchionary series. This one is all about edgings and includes more than 200 edging designs. There are patterns for both knitters and crocheters in this book. It mentions in the foreword that edgings are great because they give you an excuse to try out new techniques without committing to a big project. So true!
Highlights of this Book
- This book has a really great layout. There are 1-2 edging patterns per page. Each one has a large photo giving you a clear image of what the stitches look like. There are simple written instructions for creating each stitch pattern. Most of the designs also have a symbol chart for people who prefer that to visual instructions.
- There is a full chapter solely for crochet edgings. I love that this section is set apart so that you don’t have to cull through the entire book to find the crochet-related information, which is something that I commonly gripe about when looking at combo crochet-knit books. I will note that there are crochet patterns in other sections of the book, like the lovely “unusual edgings” section but at least there’s a go-to section for crocheters, too.
- There are some really unique designs in here. I was impressed by how many of the designs in this book were detailed, interesting and unique from what I’ve seen in other crochet edging books.
Today’s Giveaway Prize
I received a reviewer copy of this book and I’m choosing to give that away in today’s giveaway. The winner will also receive two sets of knitting needles, one that is 5.00 mm US 8 and the other is 8.0 mm US 11. I’m including those in case the winner is someone like me who doesn’t knit but might someday. 🙂
