I don’t ride a bike. I haven’t since I was a kid. Someday I’m going to learn mountain biking but it just hasn’t happened yet. Nevertheless, the bike community interests me. My sister is a bike mechanic. My brother almost biked across the country. I am supportive of Critical Mass and interested by people who bike to work. So even though the bike community isn’t “my” community, per se, I eye it as an outsider. And of course I eye it with an interest in how crochet plays a role in the bicycle community.
If I were cyclist, these are some of the crochet items I might want:
1. Soft leather cycling gloves with hand-crocheted backs.
These were recently reviewed on Road.cc. It’s a great review. Check it out. There are, however, more affordable crochet-enhanced cycling gloves available on Amazon.
2. Crochet Dress Guard.
I see lots of these around the web. These come from a post on Las Teje y Maneje via BlogHer.
3. Vintage Crochet Bicycle Vest
How fun is this? The pattern is available on Amazon from Princess of Patterns.
4. Crochet Bike Basket.
I feel like a crochet bicycle basket would be a must if I did have a bike! The pattern shown above comes from jspirik on Etsy. There’s also an interesting bike basket on Amazon called the Carrie Basket that isn’t actually crochet but is crochet-inspired in design. Perhaps sturdier than one that’s actually crocheted?
5. Crochet Bike Seat Cover
I especially adore this heart one (pattern via CrochetMe).
What would you want as a crochet-loving cyclist?
